A man was assaulted at a Nebraska bar, cops said. When the victim died, the suspect saw his charges upgraded to murder.
A man faces a murder charge after a deadly bar assault in Nebraska, police said.
Around 11: 45 p.m. on Feb. 5, police in Omaha, Nebraska, responded to Parliament Pub on Harney Street for a reported felony assault.
When officers arrived, they saw medics treating an unconscious man. The victim was identified as Rodney Pettit, 41. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to Omaha police.
On Feb. 7, Petit died.
Police arrested Nolan King, 22, before Petit died. He was charged with first-degree felony assault and use of a weapon to commit a felony in connection to the case. When Petit died, the charges against King were upgraded to second-degree murder, police said.
Investigators have not said what led to the alleged assault.
