A man in Texas was charged with murder after police say they found his 81-year-old neighbor's body in his apartment.

Around 2:00 p.m. on Feb. 18, a family member called 911 requesting a welfare check on Leonard Foster because they had not heard from him for several days, the Austin Police Department said.

A little less than an hour later, the same family member called back and said they went to Foster’s apartment in Austin and the door was open and his car was missing.

The caller stated they saw someone driving Foster’s vehicle as well as carrying garbage bags from the elderly man's apartment. They provided authorities with a description of the driver and a passenger in Foster’s vehicle.

A short time later, a man called 911 and said they had to flee the area after the suspect allegedly pointed a gun at him, according to KEYE.

Officers responding to the scene located the suspect, identified as Tamorian Taye Moore, 23.

Moore had garbage bags in his possession and he attempted to run from police, but he was quickly detained, authorities said. The trash bag allegedly contained a bloody pillowcase and bloody paper towels and Moore had a handgun in his pocket, KEYE reported.

Officers were unable to locate Foster, and during questioning, the suspect claimed the man was a “pedophile” who tried to rape him. Detectives asked if he killed Foster, and he allegedly responded that “he didn’t kill him, but Lucifer did," police said.

Detectives found Foster’s body in Moore's apartment during a search.

An autopsy determined Foster died from blunt force trauma and sharp force trauma to his head, torso and right forearm.

Moore was booked into the Travis County Jail on a first-degree murder charge and was being held on a $1 million bond.
