73-year-old claimed the fatal shooting of her husband was an accident. Police said it wasn't.
A 73-year-old woman is accused of murdering her husband in cold blood, New Jersey prosecutors announced.
Michele Linzalone was charged with first-degree murder and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in connection to the killing of her husband Rocky Linzalone, 74.
On Dec. 13, police in Middletown, New Jersey, responded to a home for a reported shooting. Michele Linzalone called 911 and reported the shooting was an accident, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s office.
When first responders arrived, they were directed to the second floor by Michele Linzalone, where they found Rocky Linzalone with a gunshot wound to the head. Despite medical efforts, Rocky Linzalone was pronounced dead.
Investigators responded and determined the shooting was not accidental, according to prosecutors.
Michele Linzalone was arrested and taken to Monmouth County Correctional Institute. She faces life in prison.
