A Pennsylvania woman was sentenced in connection with the fatal stabbing of her 87-year-old father and his 75-year-old girlfriend.
Sherry Lee Heffernan, 57, was charged with two counts of murder, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office. She was also charged with possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.
Around 4 p.m. on Oct. 3, 2021, officers from the Surf City police in New Jersey responded to a home for a welfare check. When officers went inside, they found John Enders and Francoise Pitoy dead. The duo had multiple stab wounds.
The investigation determined the elderly couple was dating and Pitoy regularly stayed at the home, according to prosecutors.
Police determined Heffernan, Ender’s daughter, was the couple's killer.
According to investigators, Heffernan and her father had a contentious relationship and she had recently been removed from Enders’ will.
Detectives also determined that Heffernan was a realtor and had recently argued with her father after he refused to use her as the listing agent for the sale of his home. Officials said it was under contract to be sold for $1.99 million at the time of his death.

Earlier this year, Heffernan was found guilty on the murder and weapons charges, officials said.
On May 10, prosecutors announced that Heffernan was sentenced to two consecutive life terms in prison in connection with the double homicide, NJ.com reported.
"This defendant will spend the rest of her life in prison," Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said. "This is an appropriate sentence and we are hopeful that this brings some measure of closure to the family and friends of John and Francois.”
