A teen is accused of killing his dad, then waiting a day to call 911 because he did not know what to do with the corpse, police said.
On Dec. 10, police in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, responded to a 911 call from Zane Skinner, 19, who made statements about a homicide, according to the Rio Rancho Observer.
When police arrived, they found Michael Skinner dead in the home, according to the report.
Zane Skinner told police that he waited 24 hours to call 911 because he did not know what to do with the corpse.
During later questioning, Zane Skinner said around 5 a.m., he got a gun and went to his father’s bedroom, the Observer noted. Zane Skinner then asked if his dad abused animals.
The teen shot his father twice in the head, dragged the body to the bathroom, went and got a knife and stabbed his dad at least five times, police said.
Officers said it looked like someone had tried to clean the scene.
Zane Skinner was arrested and charged with open murder and tampering with evidence.
