A New Mexico man admitted to using a tree branch to fatally beat another man to death during a fight in an alley, police said.
According to the Albuquerque Police Department, 50-year-old Keith Bird arrived in Albuquerque, New Mexico, during the afternoon on Nov. 29.
From there, Bird bought some alcohol and drank with some friends, police said.
Officials said Bird and one of the men got into an argument, so they went into an alley to fight.
Bird told police he beat the other man, who has not been identified yet, with a tree branch and his fists until he saw people walking in the alley.
Authorities said Bird was arrested and charged with an open count of murder. He was booked into the Metro Detention Center.
