Man Fatally Stabbed With Screwdriver Uses Last Moments To Call 911 To Identify His Killer, Police Said

A victim was stabbed while he was sleeping, but in his last moments called 911 and identified his killer, police said.
Around 3:15 p.m. on June 11, police in Albuquerque, New Mexico, responded to a reported stabbing at a home.
The victim called 911 and said he was attacked by Valerie Hernandez as he was sleeping, according to police. The victim lived with Hernandez’ brother.
The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to the hospital, where he died from his wounds, according to authorities.
Hernandez admitted to police she hit the man with a broken shovel handle and then stabbed him with a screwdriver, officials said.
The alleged killer also called 911 and gave conflicting details to detectives, according to police. Investigators determined the man was attacked in his bedroom, as he said happened.
Hernandez claimed she was diagnosed with a mental illness, and her brother told police she had abused drugs.
Hernandez was booked into jail on a count of open murder.
