Man gave alcohol to teen before shooting and killing him in New Mexico home, cops say
A teen was shot in the head while drinking at a New Mexico home, and police now say they have arrested his killer.
Around 8 p.m. on Nov. 2, police from Clovis, New Mexico, responded to a home for a teen who was shot in the head.
Officers arrived at a home owned by Theodore Avalos, 21, and found the 17-year-old with a gunshot, according to Clovis police. The victim was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Detectives investigated at the home and Avalos turned himself in for questioning, police said. It was then he was arrested on charges of involuntary manslaughter, tampering with evidence, two counts of giving alcoholic beverages to a minor and negligent use of a weapon.
Police did not say how the victim was shot or if Avalos knew the teen before the shooting.
Avalos was booked into the Curry County Adult Detention Center after his arrest.
