Man Beaten To Death In New Orleans' Most Popular Tourist Spot, Suspect Arrested

A man who police say killed someone with a pipe in New Orleans' French Quarter was arrested.
The New Orleans Police Department announced the arrest of Kyle Luptak, 31, in connection to the death Brett Burger, 62, at the intersection of Ursulines Avenue and Decatur Street on June 14.
Burger spoke to police on scene, saying he sustained head injuries after being struck by an unknown white man with a pipe. Burger died at the hospital on June 14, a day after the assault, police say.
On the evening of June 13, Eighth District officers found Luptak, interviewed him and took him into custody.
He was origiinally charged with aggravated batters, but the count was upgraded to murder on June 15 after an autopsy found that the victim died from blunt force injuries.
Luptak is charged with second-degree murder and is being held at the Orleans Parish Justice Center.
