Teenager accused of strangling his girlfriend to death in New York
A 19-year-old is accused of beating and strangling his girlfriend to death in upstate New York and now has been indicted for murder.
According to District Attorney John Flynn, 18-year-old Larrinsha Johnson was found dead inside a car on the morning of April 17. The car was reportedly found at Erie County, New York's Martin Luther King, Jr. Park with Johnson’s dead body inside.
The suspect, 19-year-old Mushagdusa R. Nankumba, is accused of beating and strangling Johnson to death. Prosecutors did not disclose what caused Nankumba to allegedly attack his girlfriend.
Johnson died from asphyxia due to strangulation, according to the Erie County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The suspect, Nankumba, was indicted by an Erie County grand jury on one count of second-degree murder, according to the District Attorney's Office.
Nankumba will remain in jail, without bail, until his next court appearance. According to the District Attorney, the suspect is scheduled for a pre-trial conference in late September.
