A man is accused of stabbing a woman to death, though police are trying to determine why, according to a report.
Last week, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office in New York announced the arrest of Paul Senecal, 38, in connection to the May 29 killing.
Around 5:40 p.m., deputies responded to a home in Wappinger, New York, for a report of an injured woman. When deputies arrived, they found Melanie Chianese, 29, seriously injured with stab wounds.
She was taken to the hospital, where she died, according to the sheriff’s office.
Investigators identified Senecal as a suspect and he was arrested hours later.
The suspect knew the victim, though the sheriff’s office said the motive remains under investigation.
Senecal was charged with second-degree murder. He is being held in jail without bond.
