Police discover 3-month-old baby dead while conducting wellbeing check at Minnesota home

Police in Minnesota arrested a mother after they found her newborn baby dead.

On Nov. 28 around 6:30 a.m., police conducted a wellbeing check on the mother and the 3-month-old infant at the family’s St. Cloud home, KMSP-TV reported.

Officers took the 26-year-old mother into custody after discovering the dead child.

The mother, who has not been publicly named, was being held at the Stearns County Jail on suspicion of second-degree murder.

The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting an autopsy on the alleged victim.

Authorities have not released further details in the case, including details about how the child died.

The investigation is ongoing.
