Years after a murder victim was found in the New Jersey woods, police say they arrested a suspect.
On April 29, 2020, police in Franklin Township, New Jersey, responded to a suspicious activity call, according to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office.
Witnesses told police they found a body in the woods near a home. Officers found the remains and secured the area as a crime scene, prosecutors said.
The victim was identified as Duane S. Banks, and his death was ruled a homicide. Though, prosecutors did not provide further details about how he was killed.
Years later, last week, police arrested Juaquan S. Fitzgerald in connection to the case. No motive was released, and police did not say how they identified him as the suspect.
He now faces a slew of charges, including first-degree murder and second-degree unlawfully disturbing human remains.
