Man Shot Dead In N.J. Park, Detroit Native And Person Known As 'The Rabbi' Accused Of Murder
A shooting at a New Jersey park left one person dead, now a man from Detroit and “the rabbi” face charges, officials said.
Last week, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office announced the arrest of Michael Verdel, 71, of the Bronx, New York and Posley Sulaiman, 31, of Detroit. They were charged in connection to the murder of Kelsey Steels, 31, who was found dead at the Eagle Rock Reservation.
Verdel is known as “the rabbi” by his friends, according to prosecutors. Both men are currently in custody and face murder and a host of other charges.
Investigators said Sulaiman and Verdel met Steels at his apartment in the Bronx. Then he brought the victim to New Jersey, where he was shot.
A motive for the shooting has not been released.
Investigators have also not said how the two suspects knew the victim.
