A woman faces 10 counts of animal cruelty after police found animals with signs of “serious neglect,” according to authorities.
This week, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina announced the arrest of Melina Kay Robinson. She faces 10 counts of felony cruelty to animals.
On June 14, deputies responded to a home to serve a summons. When they arrived, deputies saw signs of animal neglect and contacted animal control, according to the sheriff’s office.
Authorities tried to speak with the homeowner, but she was not home.
On June 17, deputies and animal control went back to the home to check on the dogs, according to the sheriff’s office.
There were “obvious signs of serious neglect,” but police did not provide further details of the dog’s condition.
Deputies took numerous animals from the home, and 12 dogs were taken directly to the hospital. It’s unclear if all the dogs survived the ordeal.
Authorities arrested Robinson, 68, and she was booked into jail. Bail was set at $25,000, and police said there may be additional charges.
