A North Carolina man is behind bars after police say he abused his stepchildren.
According to police, Jimmy Ray Brafford is accused of child abuse and strangulation. Police say the two children, ages 12 and 13, told officers that they had been abused as punishment.
Police say the two children had signs of bruising and marks on their bodies.
The children told police that Brafford abused them because they wouldn't do their chores to his satisfaction.
According to police, Brafford fled the residence before officers with Caswell County arrested him at his parents' home.
Brafford was taken into custody by the Alamance County Special Victims unit and put up in the Alamance County Detention Center. According to WRAL, Brafford was served with domestic violence protection orders after being taken into custody.
