A woman in North Carolina has been charged with murder after law enforcement officials say she killed her twin 4-year-old sons.
Around 10 a.m. on March 2, authorities responded to a 911 call in Murphy from a man who arrived at the home of his estranged wife to take custody of his 4-year-old twin sons, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.
But at the home, he reportedly found his twin sons deceased.
An investigation was launched and officials determined 44-year-old Genevieve Ellen Springer, who was listed as the mother of the deceased twin boys, was hospitalized in North Georgia.
On March 2, she was released from the hospital and subsequently arrested in Union County, Georgia, and charged with two counts of first-degree murder, officials said.
Springer waived extradition and was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center the following day. She was being held without bond.
