A North Carolina man is behind bars in connection with the murder of a 23-year-old in South Carolina, authorities said.
Around 7:20 p.m. on May 13, Jordan Drake, of Wingate, North Carolina, was shot at a home in Myrtle Beach, WMBF reported.
Responding officers with the Horry County Police Department wrote in a report at the residence they found emergency responders with fire rescue “gathered around the victim, who was face down with a significant amount of blood around him.”
Eyewitnesses to the shooting “were very distraught and running around the front,” the report states.
Police launched an investigation and identified Mitchell Sykes, 21, of Monroe, North Carolina, as a suspect in the case.
They arrested him hours after the deadly incident and charged him with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to WMBF.
