A North Dakota Man 'Having a Bad Day' Was Fired From His Job. So He Killed Two Coworkers and Their Unborn Baby Girl.
A North Dakota man who was fired from his factory job fatally shot two coworkers who were a couple and expecting a baby girl within weeks, authorities said.
On Nov. 17, 2021, witnesses working at Composite America in Fargo told police Anthony Reese, Jr., now 37, got into a fight with Richard Pittman, 43, and management told Reese to leave, according to court documents obtained by Valley News Live.
Shortly after 2 p.m. the same day, the documents state, Reese reentered the factory and again confronted Pittman. A witness said Reese pulled out a handgun and fatally shot Pittman before turning the gun on 32-year-old April Carbone, who was reportedly 35 weeks pregnant with a girl to be named Layla.
Reese, a convicted felon and registered sex offender, turned himself over to law enforcement following the incident, and he was charged with two counts of murder as well as the murder of an unborn child.
Police recovered the murder weapon, a 9mm semi-automatic pistol, not far from the factory.
Reese was recently sentenced to three life sentences without the possibility of parole in connection with the deaths of Pittman, Carbone and their unborn child.
“All he intended to do was help you," Richard Pittman’s mother, Paula Cromwell, said in a victim impact statement, KVRR reproted. "If you ever need to talk to somebody, the devil’s waiting. You took three lives because you were having a bad day."
