Woman stabbed in a nursing home and police followed a bloody trail to find the suspect in a neighboring apartment
Police went to a Baton Rouge nursing home to find a murder victim and followed a bloody trail to find her accused killer holding a knife.
Banton Rouge police arrested Larry Woodard, 69, on a charge of second-degree murder in connection to the incident, according to WAFB and WBRZ.
Police went to a nursing home in Banton Rouge, Louisiana, on April 11 and found Francis Marinelli, 67, bleeding from multiple stab wounds, according to the reports. She died from her injuries.
Police followed a trail of blood outside her apartment to Woodward’s apartment, the reports note. When officers knocked, Woodard answered holding a knife.
Surveillance video showed Woodard going to the victim’s door and hitting her when she answered, according to the reports. He then went into the apartment and left, leaving the blood trail.
Woodard told officers that he stabbed Marinelli, according to the report. Officers found cleaning supplies in Woodard’s apartment that were used to clean the apartment.
He is being held in East Banton Rouge jail and faces life in prison.
