A man faces a homicide charge after one person died and two people were hurt in a New York house fire, police said.
Last week, police in Nassau County, New York, announced they arrested Daryle McClenic, 35, in connection to a Sept. 26 fire.
Around 6:30 a.m., police responded to a fire in Hempstead, New York. When they arrived, officers saw a house fully covered in flames. Police said it appeared the fire started in a second-floor bedroom.
Fire crews put out the blaze and found a woman in the home. She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Her name was not released.
A man was taken to the hospital with burns. A third victim had minor injuries from jumping out of a second-story window, police said.
Police arrested McClenic after the fire, but did not release a motive in the case. He was charged with criminally negligent homicide and second-degree possession of a weapon.
