13-year-old boy riding his bike killed in hit-and-run crash, suspect arrested

A man allegedly hit a 13-year-old boy riding his bike, killing him, before driving away, police said.
Shortly after 9 a.m. on Dec. 5, Luke R. Newswanger, 13, was riding his bike north on Bowman Road in Cass Township, Ohio, when he was struck by a pick-up truck traveling in the same direction, 19 News reported.
Newswanger was killed, and the pickup fled, according to 19 News.
Police arrested Bud D. Thornsberry, 38, in connection with the hit and run after numerous tips from the public, 19 News reported.

Thornsberry approached troopers while they were out looking for him, according to 19 News.
Thornsberry has been charged with felony counts of aggravated vehicular assault, tampering with evidence and failure to stop after an accident causing death, 19 News reported.
He is being held in Richland County Jail, according to 19 News.
