Ex-corrections officer accused of fatally stabbing wife, turning knife on himself
A former Ohio corrections worker was arrested weeks after he allegedly stabbed his wife to death, authorities said.
On Oct. 25, Forest Park, Ohio, emergency dispatchers received a 911 call from a friend of 48-year-old Wilford Jenkins III, WXIX-TV reported, citing a recording of the call.
The friend said Jenkins was "babbling" when he phoned him and told him he knifed himself in the chest.
According to the caller, Jenkins, a father of two sons in their 20s, had been “experiencing mental health problems off and on for the last month.”
Police responding to Jenkins’ home found his wife, Huletta Jenkins, 47, suffering multiple stab wounds, an affidavit states.
She was pronounced dead at the scene, and her husband was treated for his stabbing injuries, including to the neck, at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
After Jenkins was released from the hospital on Nov. 8, Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation agents placed him under arrest for murder and he was being held on a $250,000 bond.
Police have not disclosed a possible motive for the murder.
