A former Loveland, Ohio, cop used an "intoxicant” to impair a woman and rape her several times, according to authorities.
Anthony Pecord was recently indicted on eight counts of rape and eight counts of sexual battery, according to Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph Deters.
The incident happened on Jan. 24 as Pecord was off-duty at the time. The following day, the victim reported the alleged sexual assault and an investigation started, according to FOX 19.
As soon as the allegations were made and the investigation began, the City of Loveland placed Pecord on paid administrative leave. Pecord submitted his resignation to the Chief of Police effective Feb. 26.
Deters said, “We take all cases of sexual assault seriously. But when acts like this are committed by someone in a position of power and public trust, it is especially sickening. Once this behavior was reported, the City of Loveland and the Loveland Police Department cooperated fully with the investigation.”
Deters also stated there is a concern that Pecord may have done this to more people, which is why they released his mugshot.
Pecord appeared in court last week and his bond was set at $1 million. He remains in the Hamilton County Justice Center and faces up to 88 years in prison if convicted on all charged, per FOX 19 reporting.
