Man Suspected Of Murdering 2 Men In 2 States On Same Day, Police Say
An Ohio man is accused of killing two men in two different states on the same day, authorities said.
Police believe that sometime between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Sept. 30, Wayne Leib, 40, fatally shot and stabbed Jason Peirce, 34, in Mason, West Virginia, West Virginia News reported.
Following Peirce’s death, Leib is suspected of shooting Dwayne Qualls to death around 6:30 p.m. in Pomeroy, an Ohio town located near where the first victim was found killed.
“We do believe both homicides are connected,” Colton McKinney, the chief of police in Mason, West Virginia, told the publication. “And that this was a personal matter between the two.”
McKinney said the situation involving the West Virginia victim appeared to be related to a domestic issue.
Leib was arrested in Ohio the evening of the two homicides, and he currently faces charges of aggravated murder in Ohio.
According to Police Chief McKinney, Ohio authorities found a small-caliber handgun and knife in Leib’s possession when he was taken into custody.
