Mom of 12-year-old who walked into a hospital with 24-year-old boyfriend to give birth threw a baby shower, police say
The mom of a 12-year-old who walked into a hospital with her 24-year-old boyfriend ready to give birth not only knew of the relationship but through a baby shower for the child, police said.
Last week, police in Tulsa, Oklahoma, announced charges against Juan Miranda-Jara in connection to the child abuse.
The couple walked into a hospital on July 24 and the 12-year-old gave birth to a baby.
“They walked in just like any other couple would — excited to deliver their newborn child,” Tulsa Police Officer Danny Bean told KOKI-TV.
On July 29, Tulsa police acknowledged that many people questioned where the parents were to protect the child. Police now say the parents not only knew but celebrated the abuse.

The family of the 12-year-old permitted the relationship with the man twice her age, according to Tulsa police.
The family also threw a baby shower for the victim and suspect.
Tulsa police say they have charged the victim’s mother, Desiree Castaneda, with enabling child sex abuse and child neglect.
The victim’s father is currently serving a 12-year prison on a first-degree rape charge that is unrelated to the current case.
