"It's tragic in that you have families on both sides that will be impacted forever. There are kids that are involved too, kids that will both lose their mothers as a result of this," OCSO Public Information Officer Aaron Brilbeck said, according to KOKH. "The real victims here are the kids. The kids are going to have to be raised now without mothers."
Brilbeck said the incident could have been avoided, KOKH reported.
"Kids fight, that's the reality of life. There's no reason for parents to let it get physical between them, also," Brilbeck said. "We understand that emotions run high, but when emotions run high, sometimes we don't think clearly. The result is there is a mom who is dead and a mom who will probably spend the rest of her life in prison. And it's a tragedy all the way around."
