A Pit Bull Tried To Bite A Pet Bird, So The Owner Beat The Dog With A Mallet: Report
A man beat a pit bull with a mallet after the dog tried to bite a pet bird, police said.
Around 5 p.m. on May 11, police in Tulsa, Oklahoma, responded to a home for a report of animal cruelty. A witness called 911 to say he saw a neighbor beating a pit bull with a mallet.
Officers saw the dog in a backyard, according to Tulsa police. When they called for the pup, the dog started to walk toward them with a severe limp.
Police spoke to the dog’s owner, Alberto Esparza, and he admitted to hitting the pit bull after the dog tried to bite a pet bird, according to Tulsa police. Esparza told offices he followed the dog outside and hit the animal with the mallet.
The dog was taken to a vet and had a dislocated leg from the attack, police said.
Esparza was arrested and charged with cruelty to animals. He was released from jail after posting bond.
