A man in Oklahoma was arrested for the third time in the last 30 days after a domestic call turned into an animal cruelty case, police said.
On March 19, Dominic Jones was taken into custody after he allegedly attacked a woman and her dog at an apartment complex in Oklahoma City, KWTV reported.
According to authorities, this is the third time Jones landed behind bars in the last 30 days and all of the cases include assault and battery. Police said the latest victim was his girlfriend.
Sgt. Dillon Quirk told KWTV, “The female had made reference that there was some drug use. The male had participated in some drug use and then began acting strangely.”
Police reports state the woman told police that Jones lost it and he started acting bizarrely and dragged her out of the apartment.
After forcing her out of the apartment, officials said the suspect began attacking a puppy, stabbing him through a crate the animal was locked in. Jones believed the devil was inside the dog, according to reports.
“The female made reference that the male had begun stabbing the dog with a kitchen knife...," Sgt. Quirk said. "The female was able to get back inside and try to intervene,” KWTV reported.
Witnesses claimed to police they saw Jones punching his girlfriend as she was trying to get him away from the dog.

OKC Animal Welfare picked up the dog. Jon Gary, superintendent at OKC Animal Welfare, said it appeared the puppy was going to be okay and “he is currently at home with its owner,” who was “not the person that did this,” KWTV reported.
Jones was charged with two counts of assault and battery and one count of animal cruelty and booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center, officials said.
