Oklahoma man charged with murder in connection to death of 1-year-old, authorities announce

A Sayre, Oklahoma man is suspected of killing a one-year-old child and is now behind bars. 

Taylor Lambert, 30, was arrested in connection to the death of an infant after the Sayre Police Department requested assistance from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. The police were investigated the suspicious death of Kashton Ashley on Nov.14, 2020.

Officials said autopsy results showed the baby’s death was the result of a homicide. 

Police have not revealed how Lambert allegedly killed the baby or the motive for the attack. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation announced his arrest on May 7.

Lambert was the boyfriend of Ashley's mother at the time of his death, police said.

According to an online obituary, Ashley is survived by his mother and five siblings. He also numerous other relatives and friends. His family described him as a "horse riding cowboy."

"He would ride his bouncy horse for miles and miles just laughing in his own special way," the obituary read. "He now is riding with a troop of angel armies in heaven."
