An argument inside a business turned deadly outside when a man shot and killed another person in the parking lot, police in Oregon say.
On May 29, Medford police were dispatched to a report of a person down in a parking lot. When an officer arrived at the scene, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound, according to police.
The victim, Robert Douglas Houze, 45, was transported by ambulance to the hospital where he died shortly thereafter, according to police.
Detectives determined the victim was inside a nearby business when he got into an argument with a man, who left before returning minutes later in a black SUV.
The victim approached the SUV in the parking lot and was shot by the man in the vehicle, who then fled the scene, according to police.
Officers later found the vehicle unoccupied and connected it to a nearby residence, which officers surrounded police noted.
Detectives obtained a search warrant for the home, but called the suspect prior to entering the home for officer safety reasons. The suspect was identified as Lorenzo Fisher, 45.
Fisher said he was not home, and agreed to turn himself in to police in Josephine County, Oregon. He was taken into custody and turned over to Medford police detectives.
The search of Fisher’s home found a handgun, which police believe was used in the homicide.
The investigation revealed that Fisher and Houze did not know each other prior to the incident, according to police.
Fisher was charged with murder, felon in possession of a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon.
