72-year-old man shot his son in an effort to murder him, police say

A 72-year-old man was arrested in Oregon on Friday after allegedly shooting his son.
A local hospital notified the Marion County Sheriff’s Department that a patient with multiple gunshot wounds had been brought to the hospital by family members.
The 37-year-old son has yet to be named, and his injuries are not life-threatening, according to the Marion County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies went to the location of the shooting and arrested Willie Madewell, the victim’s father, in connection with the shooting. He surrendered peacefully, according to the sheriff's department.
Police have not said what led to the shooting or where the victim was shot.
Madewell faces charges of second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, and unlawful use of a weapon. He is being held in an Oregon jail as bond as not been set in his case.
