18-month-old ingests drugs and dies, mom now accused of manslaughter
A mom let her toddler ingest drugs and now the caregiver faces a manslaughter charge, police said.
Kelsey Rose Randall, 24, was charged with second-degree manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide in connection to the death of her 18-month-old daughter, according to the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office in Oregon.
On July 28, deputies responded to help EMS at a home in Bly, Oregon. When officers arrived, they helped in the investigation of the death of the 18-month old.
An autopsy was performed and toxicology samples were collected, according to the sheriff’s office.
The tests showed the infant’s cause of death was an overdose to fentanyl.
Fentanyl is an opioid that is often mixed with other drugs to enhance the effects, but a small amount can be deadly.
Randall was arrested on Nov. 3 and police say additional charges could be filed.
