College Football Player Accused Of Gunning Down Co-ed Near Campus, Police Said
A running back for a college football team in Oregon is accused of gunning down a teenage woman near campus, according to police and media reports.
Around 1 a.m. on April 4, police in Portland, Oregon, responded to a shooting near Southwest College Street. The location is near Portland State University.
When officers arrived, they found a woman dead. The victim was identified as Amara Marluke, 19, according to Portland police.
Authorities identified the suspect and Keenan Harpole, 20, and he turned himself in to police in Bend, Oregon.
Officials have not said if the suspect knew the victim or released a possible motive in the shooting.
Harpole is a freshman running back with the Portland State University football team. He is originally from Bend. According to a university profile, Harpole did not play in a game during 2021. He is majoring in applied health and fitness.
