Two Oregon teens were arrested and charged with fatally stabbing a 21-year-old man in what police believe was a drug-related robbery.
The girls, 16 and 17, are not being identified because of their age, but are relatives according to the Tigard Police Department. Front Page Detectives has learned that officers arrested the two after a weeks-long investigation into the murder of Leroy Xavier Wass-Morrill.
Wass-Morrill was stabbed on Jan. 29 inside his apartment. He called 911, but it was too late to save the young man by the time first responders arrived. The victim was unable to identify his two attackers at the time.
The girls are now being held at the Donald E Long Juvenile Detention Center. Police are not revealing how they were able to link the two to this horrific crime. It is also unclear if they will be tried as adults or as minors should the case head to trial.
Friends and family of Wass-Morrill paid tribute to the young man on a GoFundMe page that is raising funds to help his mother with funeral costs.
“A beautiful soul who made an astounding impact on myself and the world in the short time we knew each other,” wrote one friend. “He was incredibly warm individual, you could often feel it radiating from him. He will be sorely missed be all.”
