Two people have been arrested in Massachusetts after they allegedly assaulted an officer and threw coffee in his face while they vandalized a Starbucks, according to authorities.
Around 10 a.m. on March 21, an officer on paid detail arrested 30-year-old Amari Robinson and 52-year-old April Payne, according to an affidavit obtained by Fall River Reporter.
The incident took place at a Starbucks in Dorcehester, where the officers saw the suspects being aggressive towards staff members and vandalizing store property, officials said.
The officer tried to intervene, which is when the suspects turned their aggression towards him, allegedly assaulting him and hitting him multiple times, the affidavit states. Robinson also allegedly threw a cup of coffee at the officer’s face, according to the document.
Additional units arrived at the scene and the suspects were taken into custody, officials said.
The injured officer received medical attention from EMS and then was transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
