Florida panhandler accused of murdering man by setting him on fire, police say
A suspect in Florida was under arrest in connection to the murder of a man doused with a flammable liquid and set ablaze, police said.
On March 20, eyewitnesses in Miami told investigators that Sadrack Honorat, 31, got into a verbal dispute with a man that escalated in front of Baro Hardware, according to an arrest report obtained by The Miami Herald.
Honorat allegedly “doused the victim with an unknown liquid and lit him on fire” and then fled the scene on foot, the report states.
The following day, a tipster phoned 911 after spotting a man matching Honorat’s description, and officers located and arrested the murder suspect as he was panhandling about a mile away from where the incident occurred.
During the attack, police claimed surveillance video shows the suspect was wearing what appeared to be the same light blue T-shirt and dark-colored shorts and shoes as Honorat was when officers took him into custody.
Honorat was being held without bond on a second-degree murder charge.
