Former New Mexico pediatric surgeon admits he had over 19,000 images, 2,000 videos of child porn: Feds
A pediatric surgeon in New Mexico has admitted to possessing tens of thousands of child porn images and videos, federal prosecutors said.
On Oct. 15, Guy Rosenschein, 68, pleaded guilty to seven counts of distribution of visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct and one count of possession of visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
According to prosecutors, in 2016, Rosenschein was working as a pediatric surgeon at Albuquerque’s Presbyterian Hospital when he distributed child pornography using a Yahoo! email account.

Investigators serving a search warrant on Nov. 8 that year “found Rosenschein in possession of numerous devices containing child pornography,” prosecutors said, including over 19,000 images and 2,000 videos of child porn.
Of the 21,000 items, 3,000 images and 197 videos contained minors previously-identified as victims of child pornography engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
As part of his plea deal, Rosenschein faces over 17 years behind bars and at least five years of supervised released. He will also be required to pay $125,000 restitution to requesting victims depicted in the graphic material, and register as a sex offender.
Rosenschein's sentencing date has not yet been set.
