An elderly man is behind bars after investigators say he sexually abused children
A 71-year-old man is accused of sexually assaulting two children in New Jersey, prosecutors announced.
According to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, investigators received a report on July 15 regarding two children – one 10-year-old and one 16-year-old – who told police they were sexually assaulted by 71-year-old Samuel Garrison.
The two victims both disclosed to authorities that they were sexually assaulted by the suspect in a Paterson, New Jersey home, according to prosecutors.
Garrison was arrested after a thorough investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office, which reportedly included interviews with the two alleged victims and multiple potential witnesses.
Police did not say if Garrison knew the victims or when the alleged assaults took place.
Garrison was arrested on Aug. 12 and charged with sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual contact and endangering the welfare of a child, prosecutors said.
The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office has reportedly filed a motion for a pretrial detention, which, if approved, would result in the suspect Samuel Garrison being kept in a Passaic County Jail until the trial is completed.
That motion has not yet been approved.
