Pennsylvania Suspect Arrested In Connection With Fatal Shooting Of Man Found Dumped Near River
A suspect was taken into custody in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in Pennsylvania late last winter, authorities announced.
Carlos Omar Rivera-Rivera, 24, faces charges of criminal homicide, tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, and abuse of a corpse in the death of 31-year-old Edgardo Luis Bermudez-Melendez, Lancaster Online reported.
Pennsylvania State Police said an investigation determined the victim was murdered in York on March 13, and his body was transported to Martic Township, where it was dumped.
Six days later, on the morning of March 19, a passerby discovered Bermudez-Melendez's body on an embankment near the Susquehanna River.
An autopsy showed he was shot multiple times, police said.
Rivera was booked into the York County prison, where he was being held without bail.
He is scheduled to next appear in court on Aug. 29
Police have not revealed a possible motive for the crime.
The investigation is ongoing.
