A Pennsylvania man remains hospitalized after authorities say he allegedly fatally stabbed his 61-year-old mother during an argument and then jumped off the second floor of an airport parking garage.
Officers were dispatched recently to the Pittsburgh International Airport in reference to a man who jumped from the second floor of a parking garage, according to the Allegheny County Police Department.
Officers searched for the man at the scene, but were unable to locate him.
The man, later identified as 30-year-old Joshua Leyo, then called from a stairwell in the garage seeking medical care. Police found and transported him to a local hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
Later that afternoon, officers responded to a home in Altoona, where they found Maureen Mazenko dead in the living room with a stab wound to the neck, according to the Altoona Police Department.
Police determined the victim’s son, Leyo, lived with her prior to the fatal stabbing. He allegedly used his mother’s bank account and took an Uber to Pittsburgh and made other purchases.

Officers spoke with Leyo, who they said “confessed that he became engaged in a verbal argument with Mazenko and stabbed her in the neck.”
After the alleged stabbing, Leyo told police he fled the home, believing his mother was dead.
Once Leyo is released from the hospital, he is expected to be extradited back to Blair County and arraigned on charges of first-degree murder, officials said.
