A teen has been arrested in connection to the murder of a man and the wounding of a fellow teen as she played with a gun, officials said.
Jahme Barnes, 17, was arrested after months of searching, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.
She had been wanted since late August in connection to the killing of Dakari Rome and the attempted murder of a 17-year-old in North Philadelphia, prosecutors said.
The shooting happened around 10 am. on Aug. 28 when police in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, were fired near Grant Street and Union Alley. Police arrived and found blood stains and several casings, but the victims had left.
The victims were taken to the hospital by private vehicles, and Rome was pronounced dead, police said. The teen was shot and the hand.
Investigators said Branes, Kahseem Williams and a woman were hanging out in an SUV. Williams had been messaging Rome and they were talking about guns. The group met and the gun was passed to Barnes, who started to play with the gun. She then shot the teen in the hand. The bullet traveled and hit Rome in the chest.
Barnes was charged with first-degree murder, robbery and a host of other charges. Williams was previously arrested and charged with third-degree murder.
