A young father was gunned down while taking his children out to look at Christmas lights in west Phoenix, and now police have a suspect in custody.
According to Fox 10 Phoenix, Isaiah Nash was arrested last week in connection to the killing, which took place just after 10 p.m. on Dec. 8 near 67th Avenue and Fillmore Street. When police arrived, they found 28-year-old Eduardo Uzueta shot. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
Fox 10 Phoenix reported that Phoenix police say Uzueta was near 62nd Avenue and Roosevelt that day when he got into a fight with several men, which led to the shooting.
Court documents state that Uzueta was taking his children to look at Christmas lights when he exited his vehicle to smoke. Then, he was assaulted by several men before being shot several times.
According to Fox 10 Phoenix, a phone that was found on scene revealed several conversations between Nash and others who had planned to commit an armed robbery.
Nash remains in jail facing a murder charge.
