A Florida man was arrested in nothing but socks and a loin cloth after his alleged involvement in a string of crimes, including possessing drugs and multiple hit-and-runs along with a 20-year-old woman, according to authorities.
On June 21, deputies responded to a call from a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officer regarding an SUV striking multiple cars before driving off at a high speed, according to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.
An officer tried to pull over the SUV, but they failed to stop. The SUV then drove onto the Old Kings Elementary property and drove onto the school’s running track, officials said.
The vehicle then drove onto the Flagler County Landfill before heading into a wooded area, officers said.
Additional deputies arrived and they set up a perimeter on the ground as Flagler County Fireflight tracked the SUV from above.
Deputies found the vehicle, which appeared to be stuck on a concrete barrier, and approached it. They ordered the driver and passenger to exit, but the suspects refused to comply and deputies forcefully removed them.

The male driver, later identified as 22-year-old Stephen Peterson, was “naked except for a small covering wrapped around his waist and socks,” authorities said. Officials do not know why Peterson was not fully clothed.
Peterson and the passenger, Victoria Averill, were taken into custody, police said.

Peterson was charged with fleeing and eluding, leaving the scene of a crash with damage to vehicle or property, resisting an officer without violence, trespassing on school grounds, possession of marijuana under 20 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia/equipment, according to authorities.
He was booked into the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility and held on a $19,500 bond.
Averill was charged with trespassing on school grounds, possession of marijuana under 20 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia/equipment and her bond was set at $3,000, officials said.
In a statement, Sheriff Rick Staly said, "Just when you think you’ve seen and heard everything, a driver causes multiple hit-and-run crashes, flees from law enforcement, resists arrest and then has to be dragged out naked from his car to be arrested."
