A man who has been on the run for weeks after he shot his pregnant girlfriend has been arrested, Pennsylvania police said.
Andrai Russell, 20, is accused of shooting his partner, who is pregnant, while in their apartment in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, according to the Allegheny County Sheriff's Office. The woman survived the shooting.
An arrest warrant was issued for Russell after the incident, as well as a bench warrant for violating the terms of his probation/parole from a guilty plea earlier this year for the possession of drugs.
Police say Russell has been on the run since Sept. 15. Around 1:30 p.m. Sept. 30, sheriff’s deputies got information that led them to the Sandalwood Apartments in Leechburg, Pennsylvania.
Deputies believed Russell was staying with friends at the location.
When police arrived at the apartment, deputies met two men and began giving commands for Russell to surrender, as he was not visible to them, according to the sheriff's office.
Russell was taken into custody without incident.
Russell was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, assault of an unborn child, receiving stolen property and carrying a firearm without a license.
Russell was transported to the Allegheny County Jail where he will await arraignment.
