The long-awaited trial for Lori Vallow began today in Idaho with opening statements and prosecutors said the Doomsday Mom killed her kids for “money, power and sex,” according to authorities.
Vallow is charged with murder in the deaths of her two children, Joshua “J.J.” Vallow and Tylee Ryan, Front Page Detectives previously reported. She was also charged with conspiracy to commit murder in the death of her husband Chad Daybell’s first wife Tammy Daybell.
In opening statements from Fremont County Prosecuting Attorney Lindsey Blake, she said this case was about “money, power and sex.” Blake added, "Lori used money, power and sex or the promise of those things to get what she wanted," People reported.
Vallow has pleaded not guilty to the charges. Chad is also charged with murder in connection to Tylee, J.J. and Tammy’s death, but he will be tried separately.
As the trial kicked off, the packed courtroom included Chad’s attorney, John Prior, and J.J.’s grandparents, Kay and Larry Woodcock, according to People.
During the opening statements, Blake also revealed the cause of Tammy’s death, saying she was asphyxiated and “died at the hands of another,” People reported.
