Chicago Mob Enforcer Tony “The Ant” Spilotro Profiled in REELZ True Crime Documentary
This week’s episode of REELZ true crime series ‘Gangsters: America’s Most Evil’ takes on Chicago Mob enforcerTony “The Ant” Spilotro, whose work skimming gambling profits in Las Vegas became the stuff of legend in the movie ‘Casino.’
Experts and former Feds weigh in on the ruthless mob enforcer whose gangland-style killings became his trademark.
“Tony Spilotro was a psychopathic thug that had no reservation in killing individuals,” said former DEA Chief Michael Vigil, who serves as an expert for the series.
The tell-all crime doc reports Spilotro proved himself as a dependable soldier to the Chicago Outfit long before he was put in charge of their gambling ‘skim.’
“By the time he made it out to Vegas, it has been said that he had over 22 murders under his belt, added former mobster Frank Calabrese Jr., whose father, Frank Sr., was a made man and caporegime for the Outfit.
“Gangsters” also chronicles Spilotro’s sideline as a street thug who learned hold-ups and stealing from casinos, with hisHole in the Wall Gang, could generate a healthy profit --as long as his victims paid.
Vigil went on to paint him as “An individual that had absolutely no morals, you either pay me or I’m gonna kill you.”
