Wild Foot Chase: Runaway Ostrich Escapes Trailer and Disrupts Traffic in South Dakota
An ostrich escaped its trailer in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, briefly halting traffic before it was wrangled and returned to its owner.
A video recently shared on Facebook by Beverly Froslie Johnson shows the towering bird standing in the middle of South Louise Avenue with a car stopped just in front of it.
Two men could be seen surrounding the bird as a woman tried to entice it with some type of edible.
But instead of being interested by the offered food, the bird ruffled its feathers in apparent agitation and ran from the people into other lanes of traffic.
The three people tried to corral the bird toward a sidewalk and out of traffic, with one man pulling its tail feathers.
Sioux Falls Animal Control confirmed to the Argus Leader that the ostrich had escaped its owner due to a broken trailer hitch.

But the owner was able to fix the hitch and fetch the bird before animal control officers had to intervene.
"The ostrich suffered no injuries, appeared just fine by us and was back with its owner before we had to take over," Animal Control officer Thomas Rhoades told the outlet.
