Vladimir Putin's war against Ukraine has led to an infertility crisis among men, marked by a surge in erectile dysfunction, an expert has claimed.

Igor Gundarov, chief scientific officer of the Research Institute of Public Health, issued a stark warning after observing the "terrible" demographic situation, which has left citizens disinclined to have children.

The professor attributes this epidemic of fertility issues to the Russian leader's "crazy" actions during the war, Mirror reported.

Gundarov further criticized the living conditions in Russia, describing them as similar to being trapped in a "zoo," where the idea of starting a family is unthinkable.

He made these risky comments in response to claims that the declining birth rate is due to women prioritizing their careers. Such criticisms of Putin and the war are exceptionally rare and can result in severe penalties, including draconian jail sentences.

Gundarov, who has a background in Health Management at Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy, stated: "Vladimir Vladimirovich [Putin], he speaks beautifully [but] our demographics are actually terrible. They blame everything on women, and [Putin] doesn't even understand what he's saying. They say that women don't want to give birth because the standard of living has risen... she needs to study, to have a career, and so she puts it off until she's 30, and then it doesn't work out."

He emphasized that women do want to give birth but are hindered by an "epidemic of psychogenic infertility, erectile dysfunction."

He warned that Putin’s invasion had clear demographic consequences due to the high rate of casualties, which have been hidden from ordinary Russians.

"We are going to capture Kyiv, here the price is demographic," he added. "Why do they not tell us the figures of the dead? Everyone knows every single soldier, so from whom are they hiding them? From us?"

Gundarov, 77, noted that the mortality rate among the young is rising by 40 to 50 percent. "That's why abortions have fallen, there is no one to conceive because children are not made with a finger. All those who make children... end up [dead] in the steppes near Kherson [in Ukraine] amid the tall grasses."

He called for the establishment of an official body to address Russia’s population crisis appropriately.

"And do not invite [Putin] — he is of no use anyway," he said.

Life expectancy for men in Russia was already low before the war — 67.5 years. For women, it was 77.5 years. The war has caused hundreds of thousands of losses among Russians, particularly young men, which not only reduces the male population but also impacts birth rates.
