Running Out of Steam: Ukrainian Commander Reports Putin's Russian Forces Losing Momentum in Ukraine
The Commander of the Ukrainian National Guard has expressed confidence that Russia's large-scale attacks on multiple fronts in Ukraine cannot be sustained indefinitely.
According to General Oleksandr Pivnenko, the Russian military's resources are not limitless, and he anticipates that in about a month and a half, Russia will have to scale back its simultaneous offensives, Knewz.com reported.
Despite the ongoing pressure from Russian forces on several key locations, Ukraine has managed to cause significant damage to the Russian military presence. However, both sides have experienced a deadlock in certain areas, such as the village of Krynky on the southern bank of the Dnipro River.
Ukrainian marines recently had to withdraw from this strategically important position due to extensive destruction. A state-run media report emphasized that the withdrawal was necessary to preserve the lives of Ukrainian soldiers.
Meanwhile, Russian troops have been intensifying their efforts in the Chasiv Yar region, aiming to breach Ukrainian defenses near the city of Pokrovsk. Additionally, Ukrainian forces are holding their ground on the Kharkiv front, where Russian soldiers have captured several villages.
In an interview with Ukrinform, General Pivnenko highlighted the need for Ukrainian forces to hold their positions a little longer. He believes that the Russian military's offensive capabilities will diminish due to ongoing losses, forcing them to shift to a defensive stance.
"The enemy's offensive capabilities are not unlimited, considering the losses they suffer," Pivnenko stated. He anticipates that within the next month and a half, Russian forces will be unable to conduct active assaults on multiple fronts and will instead focus on defense.
Russia has been facing significant losses in troops and equipment, with Ukrainian forces recently thwarting one of Russia's largest mechanized assaults near Donetsk Oblast, destroying six tanks and seven armored personnel carriers, and killing at least 40 soldiers.

General Pivnenko emphasized the importance of Ukraine seizing any opportunity that arises when Russian assaults decrease. He advised focusing on identifying and exploiting the enemy's weak points while avoiding their strongholds.
"It is necessary to adapt, change the management model," he said. He also stressed the importance of continued training, the development of training centers and the procurement and production of military equipment, including drones, armored vehicles, air defense systems and ammunition.
